It is true that both parents and other factors are indispensable guiders for children’s development. It is thought that factors beyond home become more influential than parents in children’s intelligence and socialization. From my perspective, this thought is reasonable considering the following two aspects.

The first reason is that surroundings impart more knowledge to children than parents. Strong evidence can be seen in the process of children studying in schools. Teachers in schools tend to be selected deliberately from hundreds of applicants who major in education for several years, some of whom have even been abroad to finish the master, degree. When they are in charge of certain courses, they usually design the teaching process at first and then introduce lively and stimulating instructional activities. By contrast, parents’ performance cannot be guaranteed due to their incapability to design a sensible curriculum for their children.

Another factor lies in the fact that social regulations provide more disciplines on children’s behavior. This is because parents tend to be more tolerant with children's misbehavior than the public. When children make mistakes, parents rely more on informal criticism with gentle reminding. However, in order to maintain the fairness the society, most social rules are equal for individuals. For example, teachers have to conduct the school rules identically when dealing with the conflicts among their students, which means most of the unacceptable behavior can be punished. As a result, it is the society which makes students full aware of the importance of obeying social rules.

In conclusion, living in the society, other factors outside the home instead of parents are the predominant directors in their growth.
